For those looking for outdoor fun and cultural attractions in a small-town
setting, look no further than Baraboo. Set amidst stunning bluffs, the city
is just a few miles from Devil's Lake State Park – one of the most popular parks
in Wisconsin. Visitors enjoy viewing the 500-foot cliffs, while hiking, mountain
biking and camping. Baraboo is also home to the International Crane Foundation,
which is the world's most complete collection of cranes in a simulated Wisconsin
wetland setting. Dedicated to the study and preservation of cranes, this center
offers guided tours throughout the summer. As the birthplace of the Ringling
Brothers Circus, it is not surprising that Baraboo features a circus museum,
as well as daily live circus performances with animals during summer months.
Every July the city is abuzz during the Sauk County Fair, an event that showcases
antique tractor pulls, live entertainment and a midway.
